The Lord’s Day Alliance of the United States exists to encourage Christians to reclaim the Sabbath–the Lord's Day
as a day of spiritual and personal renewal, enabling them to impact their communities with the Gospel.

2009 Lowndes Sermon Competition

In challenging economic times like the world faces in 2009, the Lord’s Day Alliance is seeking to uncover scriptural truths regarding how the Tenth Commandment, combined with Jesus’ teaching about money, can provide guidance for Christians in daily living. Using both texts from the Old Testament (Exodus 20:17) and the New Testament (Matthew 6:19-24), sermons presented should consider the topic: Sunday/Sabbath and a Society of Greed or Abundance and Jesus’ Teaching about Money.

Eligibility
Practicing parish ministers, retired ministers who preach occasionally, ministerial students, field education students, and ministerial interns are all eligible to submit an entry, so long as they have preached the sermon to a congregation during the year of the competition.

Dates

Manuscripts and audio recordings of the sermon must be postmarked by November 30, 2009. Winners will be notified by February 15, 2010 and announced publicly in the spring issue of Sunday magazine. The first-place winner will be invited to attend The Lord’s Day Alliance's 2010 Seeking Sabbath conference to deliver this sermon.
